about pemalaure

My work is quite literally my blood, my DNA.

I transcribe it onto paper, from the Latin ‘transcribere,’ which combined ‘trans’ (beyond) and ‘scribere’ (to write). I began by trans-scribing my own struggles with my feminine cycle, writing, drawing and painting beyond the pain and challenges. This process powerfully rekindled my connection to creativity.

It all (re)started during a wonderful and deep week of yin yoga, completed with dragon dances (the yin and the yang). Although the group wasn’t intended to be exclusively feminine, it was so. The energy within this circle of women was immense. I can only express my gratitude and say thank you for the gift that began there. The seed of creativity was within me, as it is within all of us, but the energy from our teachers and this circle of women became the water that nourished that seed. I knew something transformative was unfolding, even though I couldn’t yet define it. We were asked to write an essay after the workshop, with the freedom to choose any form—from an academic paper to a poem… or a drawing…

And thus, the rebirth
of my creativity began!

values

Some artists love to provoke their audience by pushing boundaries and venturing into shocking territory to elicit a reaction.

While I believe this is an effective strategy to stir emotions, my approach, perhaps influenced by my background in healthcare, is different.

I aim to present my work without resorting to provocative scenes. Instead, I focus on poetry and elegance, believing that this gentle method can move people in the deepest part of their hearts.

My love for the wabi-sabi philosophy is surely another ingredient that shapes my approach.

Mission

These artworks seek to dismantle the taboos surrounding feminine cycles, portraying menstrual blood as a source of life, creativity, and natural beauty.

I long for women to be in harmony with their bodies, free to make their own choices, and truly become the owners of their own temples. If they can recognize and embrace the power of their feminine cycles, that brings me joy. I hope my work can contribute to solidifying these essential principles, which I believe are part of the foundation for a healthy society.

In our patriarchal world, we desperately need more yin energy to create magic and support a strong spiritual world—something essential for humanity. It’s equally important to help men realize and integrate the understanding that within a woman lies the power of pure creation. This is a treasure that deserves deep respect and reverence.

Just as there is yin within yang and yang within yin, these values also reflect the balance we must find within ourselves and in our world. Not everyone has a womb, yet we all have a Svadhisthana chakra, this energy center, the birthplace of creativity.
